Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care for postpartum, antepartum, pediatric, GYN, and Med-Surg overflow patients.
  • Support care for newborns and may serve as second RN in Special Care Nursery (SCN).
  • Assist with labor, postpartum, nursery, and Pediatric units, including handling diverse clinical duties.
  • Float to other units such as Telemetry and Medical-Surgical as needed per union contract.
  • Utilize electronic medical records, including EPIC, and operate unit-specific equipment like vitals machines, bladder scanner, breast pumps, and MedFusion pumps.
  • Participate in staff onboarding, scheduling, and coverage, including filling staffing vacancies and covering FMLA absences.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of OB/L&D experience.
  • Active MN state RN license.
  • Active BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NRP certifications.
  • Ability to work in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, Nursery, and Pediatrics units.
  • Proficient in EPIC EMR system; experience with other EMRs is acceptable if specified.
  • SNSA certification (must be uploaded to verify agency registration with the state of MN).
  • Willingness to float to Med-Surg and Telemetry units.
  • Ability to work variable shifts, including weekends.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • PALS certification (additional preferred).
  • Experience using equipment such as Philips vitals machines, bladder scan, Medula breast pumps, and Responder 5 call system.
  • Previous employment with Sanford Health must be noted; candidates previously employed there must have an end date at least 6 months prior to application.

Additional Details

  • Average census includes 5 mother/baby couplets, 2 pediatrics, 1 GYN, 2 labor patients, and 4 SCN patients daily.
  • Support staff include ward clerks, CNAs, charge nurses, resource nurses, and LPNs.
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3 for mother/baby, 1:5 for GYN/Med-Surg, and 1:3-4 for pediatrics.
  • Orientation includes initial equipment and unit training, with badge-in/out procedures.
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue.
  • Candidate must be eligible to work at the facility, with prior Sanford Health employment noted if applicable.

Note: Local candidates living within 80 miles of the facility will have their rates adjusted accordingly.
