Job Title
- Sterile Processing Technician
Location
- Vernon, CT
Schedule / Job Type
- Full-time, night shift, on-site, 8-hour nights (Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
- Weekend rotation (Saturday and Sunday, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment, including sterilizers and washer/decontaminators
- Perform cleaning, high-level disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments and sets
- Assemble trays and sets for various specialties such as cardiology, orthopedics, urology, and robotics
- Document sterilization processes and procedures accurately
- Ensure compliance with sterilization standards and proper selection of wrapping materials
- Conduct sterilization testing and monitoring, including biological and chemical indicators
Required Qualifications
- Certification from IAHCSMM, HSPA, or CBSPD
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile processing or an equivalent setting
- Ability to operate sterilization and decontamination equipment
- Knowledge of sterilization protocols, wrapping procedures, and equipment documentation
- Experience with high-level disinfection and sterilization testing
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Familiarity with Abacus/Maestro, Steris Steam Sterilizers, Steris VPro Max, Sterrad 100s, and Belimed Ultrasonic Cleaners
- Knowledge of specialized procedures for different surgical departments (e.g., cardiac, ophthalmology, robotics)
- Experience with sterilization in a hospital or surgery center preferred
