Key Responsibilities
• Provide specialized nursing care in a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) during cardiac procedures such as CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, and other thoracic cases.
• Assist in surgical procedures, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and maintaining sterile environment.
• Document patient care accurately in electronic health records using systems like EPIC.
• Collaborate closely with surgical team, anesthesia, and other medical staff to deliver optimal patient outcomes.
• Support patient preparation and recovery in perioperative setting, including monitoring vital signs and managing equipment.
• Follow unit-specific protocols and ensure compliance with hospital standards and policies.

Required Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in CVOR or cardiac surgical units.
• Not required to be a traveler; local candidates accepted.
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Prior experience with CVOR procedures is essential.

Preferred Experience / Skills
• ACLS certification.
• Level 1 trauma experience preferred.
• Proficiency in scrubbing cardiac cases is desirable but not mandatory.
• Experience with medication systems like Pyxis, and documentation systems such as EPIC.

Warnings

• Call-offs and additional RTO on unit may lead to cancellation of shift and DNR status.
• Staff are expected to work during storms, hurricanes, mass casualties, or disasters if required, and may be reassigned to different units or locations during the contract.
