Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical patients across all ages within a 120-bed hospital setting.
  • Utilize hospital equipment including EPIC electronic medical records, OmniCells with bar-coding medication systems, and connected diagnostic tools such as x-ray and lab services.
  • Perform a variety of procedures related to orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, geriatrics, and general medical-surgical care.
  • Administer medications, including IV therapy, with expertise and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Collaborate with hospitalists and support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and follow protocols for patient safety and quality care.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid BLS certification; ACLS and PALS required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience, including IV skills.
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Oregon.
  • Ability to handle diverse patient populations and perform procedures across multiple specialties.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience with orthopedic, neuro, cardiac, or pediatric patients.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and hospital-based equipment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills for fast-paced hospital environment.

Additional Details

  • Shifts are scheduled for nights, starting at 1845 and ending at 0715.
  • Schedule includes working every other weekend when scheduled.
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 5-6:1 during day shifts and 6-7:1 at night.
  • Uniform is professional scrubs.
  • Orientation includes hospital-wide onboarding, Epic EMR training, and unit-specific orientation typically lasting 2 shifts.
  • Support staff includes hospitalists available 24/7 to ensure patient safety and care continuity.
