Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to oncology patients in a 19-bed unit with all private rooms.
- Administer IV chemotherapy and immunotherapy medications, including hanging and monitoring for side effects.
- Manage patient care with nurse-to-patient ratios typically ranging from 1:4 to 1:6, adjusting based on census.
- Collaborate with charge nurses, house supervisors, and patient care technicians to deliver comprehensive care.
- Assist with respiratory equipment management such as Bipap and Cpap devices when applicable.
- Document patient status and interventions in electronic medical records using Epic Beacon.
Required Qualifications
- Valid active Illinois RN license or proof of application initiation.
- BLS certification.
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) / Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy certification.
- Experience with IV chemotherapy and immunotherapy drug administration, including handling precautions and side effect monitoring.
- Understanding of PPE usage and medication safety protocols.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in oncology or hematology units.
- Knowledge of managing medication titrations as ordered by physicians.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic respiratory equipment such as Bipap and Cpap devices.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating census and staffing.

- No call or standby requirements; floating to other units may occur based on staffing needs.
- Self-scheduling available within a 6-week planning window, with shifts starting at 7:00 AM or 7:00 PM.
- Orientation consists of 24-36 hours, with training on EMR documentation via Epic Beacon.
- The unit operates under a 12-hour shift schedule with every other weekend and holiday work commitments.
