Key Responsibilities
- Receive and accession specimens from surgical procedures into laboratory system
- Process tissue samples, including embedding, sectioning, and staining slides
- Prepare and distribute tissue blocks and slides for further analysis
- Maintain accurate records of specimen processing and tracking
- Ensure adherence to laboratory protocols and safety standards
- Collaborate with pathology and cytology departments as needed
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a histology laboratory within a pathology setting
- ASCP certification (HT or HLT)
- Completion of a formal histology technologist training program or an Associate's degree in chemical, physical, or biological sciences
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with IHC, cytology, and handling surgical specimens
- Familiarity with Cerner or similar laboratory information systems
- Ability to work efficiently during night shifts and handle processing under time-sensitive conditions
