Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive physical therapy services to patients based on physician referrals.
• Perform evaluative and therapeutic procedures in accordance with medical orders, observing all precautions and contraindications.
• Assess patients and develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals, modalities, and treatment frequency.
• Collaborate with patients, caregivers, and the healthcare team to optimize care and discharge planning.
• Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and document all interactions accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Educate patients and caregivers on the use of assistive devices and therapeutic exercises.
• Support orthopedic patients, including those undergoing joint replacement surgeries, adhering to established standards and educational requirements.
• Maintain licensure, certifications, and ongoing professional development through workshops, conferences, and memberships.
• Supervise and mentor assistant-level staff and students, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
• Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and ensure a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy; Master’s or Doctorate preferred.
• Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in Maine.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working with orthopedic surgical patients, specifically joint replacements.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal.
