Schedule / Job Type
- Full-time, 12-hour shifts, rotating weekends, floating to medical units as needed
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on general medical and surgical units with diverse diagnoses, including chronic illnesses, GI issues, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders
- Perform assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication
- Utilize electronic health records (Epic), IV pumps, wound vacs, feeding devices, and other medical equipment
- Manage IV therapy, medication administration, and infusion management such as insulin and heparin drips
- Monitor patient status using telemetry and other diagnostic tools
- Prepare and assist with a variety of procedures including colonoscopies, thoracentesis, biopsies, and minor surgeries
Required Qualifications
- Active BLS certification
- IN state or compact RN license
- Minimum of 1.5 years of nursing experience in Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care hospitals
- At least 1 year of experience at a facility with 600+ beds
- Procedural competency in medical-surgical nursing care
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience in a similar-sized hospital setting (600+ beds)
- Familiarity with electronic health records and hospital equipment such as Pyxis, Hospira IV pumps, and telemetry monitoring
- Ability to float to other medical units as needed
