Schedule / Job Type
- Rotating shifts, 12-hour shifts; 3 shifts per week; assignments ranging from 16 to 32 weeks; bi-weekly orientation
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care for cardiac progressive care, stepdown, and telemetry units with a focus on cardiothoracic, vascular, and surgical patients
- Float to similar units as needed to ensure patient care coverage
- Manage post-op patients, including those with open or closed hearts, within a cardiac stepdown environment
- Adhere to hospital protocols and safely perform duties across multiple units
- Collaborate with healthcare team to deliver patient-centered care during complex postoperative recoveries
- Maintain accurate documentation in electronic medical records and ensure compliance with all regulatory standards
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ RN experience, including at least 1 year in a similar unit setting
- Current AHA BLS, ACLS certifications; NIHSS certification prior to start required
- Large trauma level 1 experience within the past year
- Recent Epic EMR experience (within last 2 years)
- Vascular and cardiothoracic nursing experience
- Post-op 1-day hearts open/closed patient experience
- Active RN license in the state of Vermont or appropriate compact state
Preferred Experience / Skills
- PCCN certification preferred
- Experience working with post-surgical cardiac patients, including CABG and valve procedures
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
