Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and processing of tissue specimens for histological analysis.
- Receive and accession specimens from surgical departments, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Prepare tissue samples by embedding, sectioning, and staining slides for examination.
- Collect tissue blocks from pathology staff and maintain meticulous records within the laboratory system.
- Support activities related to immunohistochemistry (IHC), cytology, and other specialized pathology procedures.
- Collaborate with laboratory team members to ensure quality and timely processing of specimens.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in histology or a related field.
- ASCP certification preferred.
- Knowledge of pathology processes, including specimen accessioning and slide preparation.
- Experience with tissue processing, embedding, cutting, and staining techniques.
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems such as Cerner.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a hospital or clinical pathology laboratory.
- Proficiency with IHC, cytology, and other specialized histological techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
