Key Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in the stepdown / immediate care unit setting, managing a mix of progressive care and telemetry patients with varying acuity levels.
  • Monitor and interpret telemetry strips, administer treatments, and start IVs as required.
  • Maintain appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios, typically 1:4, with flexibility to 1:5 in emergencies.
  • Document patient status and interventions accurately in Cerner electronic medical records.
  • Follow all unit protocols, including certification, documentation, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care during night shifts.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license (WV or Compact, pending license acceptable)
  • Minimum 1.5-2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year in Med-Surg/Telemetry and 2 years in Stepdown units
  • BCLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
  • Experience with IV starts and telemetry monitoring
  • Ability to read telemetry strips accurately
  • Must be able to work night shifts and comply with travel policies

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience with PALS certification (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Travel healthcare experience is a plus
  • Flexibility to accommodate blocked schedules, including weekends

  • Travel compliance includes SSN and DOB on application, with documentation submitted by noon Monday prior to start.
  • Candidates should reside more than 100 miles from the facility unless case-by-case approval is provided.
  • No scrubs provided; uniform is burgundy and/or white.
  • Orientation is scheduled every other Thursday; modules must be completed prior to start.
