Key Responsibilities
- Ensure proper operation and daily maintenance of autoclave units for sterilization.
- Conduct biological and chemical tests at the start of each shift and record results accurately.
- Process contaminated instruments and supplies, following sterilization principles and manufacturer instructions.
- Wrap or package items correctly for sterilization, ensuring proper aseptic techniques.
- Assist with training of new and existing staff, and maintain accurate records of all sterilization activities.
- Store supplies appropriately, care for surgical instruments and sharps, and manage sterilization equipment maintenance.
- Receive and deliver surgical supplies, manage requisition requests, and order department supplies as needed.
- Maintain compliance with safety protocols, confidentiality, and all relevant policies and procedures.
- Support departmental functions including documentation, record keeping, and participation in meetings and training.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of sterilization procedures and autoclave operation.
- Ability to follow strict safety and aseptic protocols.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous experience in a sterile processing or Central Service department.
- Certification related to sterile processing or surgical technology.
- Familiarity with hospital or clinical supply management systems.
