Key Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during invasive surgical procedures to ensure patient safety and procedure efficiency.
• Prepare and handle instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary for surgery.
• Ensure the operating room environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and patient positioning follows safety principles.
• Provide visualization of the operative site and assist with hemostasis and wound closure techniques.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgical team based on advanced knowledge of anatomy and procedural requirements.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols, including emergency response procedures, and uphold a professional attitude throughout all tasks.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of trade or technical school with a certificate or diploma.
• CSFA (Certified Surgical First Assistant) certification.
• BLS certification (must be obtained within three months of hire).

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience as a surgical technologist or first assistant preferred.
• Strong understanding of normal and pathological anatomy and physiology.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures and safety standards in the operating room.
