Cath Lab / EP Technologist – Radiology/Cardiology
Location
Winston-Salem, NC
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days | 5x8 Hours (6:45–15:15) | Monday–Friday | Occasional late days | Call requirement: one day per week and every fifth weekend
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and assist with diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures including left and right heart catheterizations, PCI, stent placement, and IABP placement and removal
- Administer and monitor procedural sedation; manage and interpret dysrhythmias using 12-lead EKG and ACT monitoring
- Administer medications including antiarrhythmics, antihypertensives, IV vasopressors, thrombolytics, and reversal agents
- Perform IV therapy tasks including blood product administration, IV infusion pump management, and starting IVs
- Assist with sheath removal and monitoring, pulmonary artery line and Swan-Ganz monitoring, and cardioversion
- Float within and near the facility as needed; operate specialized equipment including Impella, EKOS, Shockwave, Roto, Penumbra, Ultrasound, ACIST, and GE Mac Lab system
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a diagnostic and interventional cardiac cath lab setting
- Proficiency in cardiac procedures including PCI, diagnostic catheterizations, IABP placement and removal, and right and left heart catheterizations
- Competency with procedural sedation administration and monitoring, Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale, and malignant hyperthermia protocols
- Experience with infection prevention, isolation precautions, and Pyxis, Epic, and SBAR documentation and communication systems
- Active ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Active NC or Compact nursing/tech license required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with advanced procedures including TAVI/TAVR, ASD/PFO closures, Impella insertion, Rotablader atherectomy, and upper and lower extremity angiography
- Familiarity with vascular closure systems, topical hemostasis agents, external compression devices, and laser-assisted procedures
- Experience with central line insertion and management, PICC line care and maintenance, and implanted port care
- Knowledge of end-tidal CO2 monitoring, ventilator monitoring, hypothermia protocols, and radiation and laser safety
