Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients in the Operating Room setting in accordance with organizational standards and policies.
- Prepare patients, verify documentation, ensure equipment readiness, and facilitate communication among surgical team members.
- Monitor patient conditions intraoperatively, document key events, and advocate for patient safety throughout surgical procedures.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other perioperative staff to promote optimal patient outcomes.
- Administer medications and treatments safely, recognizing and responding to changes in patient status promptly.
- Participate in on-call coverage to support urgent and emergent surgical cases.
Required Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska.
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
- Clinical competency in perioperative nursing within 3 months of employment, with ongoing competency assessments every 3 years.
- High-Risk Competency validation within 3 months, renewed annually.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in an Operating Room environment.
- Prior perioperative nursing or surgical nursing certification.
- Knowledge of sterile techniques and surgical instrumentation.
