Contract | Days | 4x10-Hour Shifts, Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM | On-Site | Call rotation includes weekday after-hours and weekend call (Friday 5:00 PM–Monday 7:00 AM, rotated 1:5); approximately 3–4 weekends per contract
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and assist with a full range of interventional radiology and special procedures including port placements, embolizations, nephrostomy and gastrostomy tube placements, liver cancer treatments (SIRT, chemoembolization), and Trauma Level I procedures such as splenic, liver, and pelvic bleed interventions
- Scrub and circulate in the IR suite, maintaining a sterile field and ensuring proper equipment setup and preparation of access sites
- Operate and maintain specialized imaging equipment including single-plane and biplane fluoroscopy systems and ultrasound units
- Accurately monitor patients throughout procedures, recognize life-threatening arrhythmias, and utilize rapid response and code teams as needed
- Stock supplies, maintain equipment, and document using facility systems including EPIC and Pyxis
- Serve patients across acute inpatient, ED emergent, and outpatient populations presenting with diagnoses including bleeds, cancer, vascular disease, fibroids, and urological comorbidities
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of Interventional Radiology / Special Procedures experience
- Prior travel assignment experience required
- ARRT (R) certification required
- BLS certification required
- Active NC or Compact radiologic technology license (pending licensure acceptable at time of submission)
- Proficiency in core IR skills including fluoroscopy, central venous access, PICC line care and maintenance, catheter/drain exchange, angioplasty, stent placement, IVC filter placement, thoracentesis, and isolation precautions
Preferred Experience / Skills
- ARRT (VI) certification and/or experience with TIPS (Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt) procedures
- Familiarity with GE Innova IGS and/or Siemens imaging platforms, PACS, and ultrasound
- Experience with vascular closure systems (e.g., Perclose, StarClose) and computed tomography
- Ability to perform EKG lead placement and recognize life-threatening arrhythmias
