Registered Nurse – Step Down / PCU (Travel/Contract)

Travel/Contract | Full-Time | Days, 4x12-Hour Shifts (7:00–19:30) | 36 or 48 Hours Per Week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Step Down/PCU setting for a population that includes COPD, CHF, pneumonia, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and post-COVID patients
• Manage and monitor patients on telemetry, IV drips (including insulin, heparin, and Cardizem), and ventilators/trachs; no orally intubated patients on unit
• Support patients with high-oxygen requirements, BiPAP, and trach care in collaboration with Respiratory Therapy
• Read and interpret cardiac rhythm strips and respond appropriately to dysrhythmias
• Function within a team nursing or primary nursing model, partnering with fellow nurses and patient care technicians to deliver coordinated patient care
• Float within specialty clusters or to nearby campuses as directed, and be available to work every other weekend and holiday

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (any active state license or compact license accepted; no past license disciplinary actions)
• Minimum 1.5 years of Step Down or PCU nursing experience with documented 1:5 patient ratio experience (ICU experience does not substitute)
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Demonstrated ventilator experience
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Must pass an online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to assignment start

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience
• Experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 facility
