Key Responsibilities

• Provide Speech-Language Pathology evaluations and treatments in a pediatric setting, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and implementation of individualized plans of care
• Serve as the primary therapy provider responsible for implementing, supervising, and modifying therapy plans of care based on ongoing patient assessment
• Attend care conferences, interdisciplinary rounds, and maintain communication with referring providers, nurses, and rehabilitation team members regarding patient status and needs
• Develop and deliver patient and family education programs, including home exercise programs, with sensitivity to cross-cultural considerations
• Document all patient encounters, findings, diagnoses, treatment plans, and recommendations in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards
• Provide therapy services across a variety of settings including inpatient, outpatient, home visits, community locations, and occasional multi-day travel to remote areas by boat or small plane

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
• Current Alaska State License in Speech-Language Pathology required
• Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA required or must be obtained within the first year of employment
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire
• Current and valid Alaska Driver's License required
• Clinical Competency and High Risk Competency assessments required within 3 months of hire and maintained per renewal schedule

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Acute care hospital experience, including subspecialty areas such as dysphagia and neurology
• Pediatric clinical experience
• Experience performing Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS), Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), and bedside clinical swallowing examinations
• Proficiency with information technology including multiple software applications, laptops, tablets, and imaging devices
