Job Title: Tech - Surgical
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and educated Surgical Technologist to join our team at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Heart Hospital, and Children’s Hospital of Illinois. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and safety in the operating room. You will work collaboratively with our surgical team to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Scrub for a wide range of surgical procedures, including pediatrics, thoracic, transplant, organ procurement, vascular, interventional radiology, orthopedics, gynecology, robotic, EENT, plastics, dental, urology, oncology, laser, and trauma. • Apply aseptic technique guidelines to prepare the operating room and maintain a sterile environment. • Organize and prepare supplies, instruments, implants, and hardware for procedures. • Assist surgeons intra-operatively with routine and complex procedures, including scrubbing, draping, passing instruments, and sterilizing equipment. • Anticipate and respond to surgeons' needs during the course of the surgery. • Receive and preserve surgical specimens, notifying the circulating nurse of the specimen type and source.
Requirements:
• Completion and graduation from an accredited surgical technology program. • Possession of knowledge and skills necessary to scrub for cases appropriate to the age of patients served intra-operatively, including anatomy and physiology. • Certification or registration with the state of Illinois (optional). • Ability to learn department/unit policies, procedures, and work routines through a minimum of four months intra-operative orientation and on-the-job training. • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with surgical team members, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and other patient care providers. • Ability to identify and resolve clinical and operational problems that may inhibit the quality of patient care.
