About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Intensive Medical Care/Progressive Care Unit/Stepdown department. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will provide high-quality patient care to a diverse patient population, utilizing your expertise and critical thinking skills to deliver exceptional outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care, including assessments, interventions, and education to patients and families • Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) to document patient information and communicate with interdisciplinary teams • Participate in code blue responses, critical care transports, and other high-acuity situations • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans • Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as ordered by physicians • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including documentation of treatments, assessments, and test results • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to departmental goals and objectives
Types of Procedures:
• Insertion and management of chest tubes • Administration of wound vacs • Insertion of IV lines and administration of medications • Monitoring of vital signs and cardiac rhythms • Use of pyxis and other medical equipment
Shift and Schedule Requirements:
• 12-hour shifts, including night shifts (1845-0715) • Scheduled 36 hours per week, with variable hours during the first week of orientation • No guarantee of hours; flexible scheduling may be required
Required Skills and Experience:
• 2-10 years of experience as a Registered Nurse • Current licensure in the State of Hawaii • BLS certification, with ACLS (PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC) preferred • Ability to float to other units and departments as needed
Work Environment:
• Medical Unit: 77 beds • Laulima Unit (surgical acute): 18 beds • Cardiovascular Unit: 15 beds • Nurse to patient ratio: • Medical: 1:6 for days and eves, 1:8 for nights • Laulima: 1:6 • Cardiovascular: 1:4 • Dress Code: Professional nursing attire - clean scrubs
