Respiratory Therapist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Mayers Memorial Hospital District. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing care, assessment, and delivery of respiratory therapy to patients in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, emergency services, and home care.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide high-quality respiratory care to patients, including intubations, aerosol delivery, and patient assessment and care planning • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans • Conduct patient assessments, including pulmonary function tests, to identify and address respiratory disorders • Administer oxygen therapy, ventilator support, and other respiratory treatments as prescribed by physicians • Educate patients and families on respiratory care techniques, disease management, and prevention strategies • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes
Requirements:
• Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or related field • Current licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of California • Minimum 1 year of clinical experience or new graduate with strong recommendations • ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NRP certification within 6 months of hire • OSHA Respirator Fit Testing certification within 3 months of hire date

Working Conditions:
• Must be willing to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary • Willingness to function independently, have personal integrity, flexibility, and the ability to work effectively with other personnel, clients, and support agencies
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift, walk, and move intermittently during working hours • Ability to lift 40 pounds
