Special Education Teacher

Primary Purpose: Collaborate closely with general education teachers, families, and support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that promote growth, independence, and success in both school and life. Is compassionate, collaborative, and committed to empowering every learner to thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.

Position Details:

• Location: Providence, RI
• Pay: Starting at $35/hr
• Hours: May vary based on location
• Schedule: May vary based on location

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid RI teaching certification in Special Education required.
• ESOL Certification highly preferred.
• Experience working with students with a range of disabilities (e.g., learning disabilities, autism, developmental delays, etc.)

Skills & Experience:

• Experience working in diverse, multilingual school settings preferred.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish) strongly preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Provide direct instruction, accommodations, and modifications to meet student needs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion practices.
• Conduct assessments and maintain accurate documentation
• Communicate regularly with families and related service providers.
• Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to multidisciplinary teams.
• Uphold the school’s commitment to bilingual education and inclusive excellence.
