Registered Nurse PreOp
**Registered Nurse - PreOp**
**Corvallis, OR**
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in the PreOp department. As a Registered Nurse - PreOp, you will be responsible for providing safe and quality patient care in the Peri-Operative area, from pre-admission to discharge.
**Key Responsibilities:**
• Participate in and maintain a culture of excellence within our organization, adhering to our Service and Behavioral Standards document
• Assess patient status on admission to the preop area and/or post-op area, and on a continuing basis
• Provide safe and therapeutic quality care to patients by utilizing the nursing process and nursing diagnosis in a timely manner
• Coordinate nursing interventions to enhance achievement of expected outcomes and ensure readiness for discharge
• Document interventions and patient responses
• Ensure provision of patient care in an organized and timely manner
• Utilize nursing care standards when planning and implementing patient care
• Communicate appropriate information regarding patient conditions to those who require the information, including surgeons, anesthesia, management, and other staff
• Safely carry out physician's orders correctly and promptly, documenting all activities
• Initiate and participate in patient and family education
• Display an understanding of each patient's cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturity in assessments, treatment, and care
• Participate in the orientation and training of new employees
• Take part in pre- and post-op phone calls and communicate any problems to the appropriate person
• Maintain competencies to function in RN role within specific area
• Maintain competencies in conscious sedation administration and monitoring of sedated patients
• Expertise in safety principles, asepsis, sterile technique, and universal precautions
• Assess, anticipate, and implement appropriate care throughout the surgical process
• Open, clean, and re-stock unit for the day
**Requirements:**
• Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing
• Current unencumbered State of Oregon license as a Registered Nurse
• Current CPR certification, ACLS or ability to obtain ACLS within six (6) months of hire date
• Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years' experience with at least two (2) years' experience in critical care, PACU, or Medical Surgical Nursing preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire required
• PALS certification, preferred
**Working Conditions:**
• Work environment: Moderately quiet with exposure to patient and environmental conditions
• Physical demands: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks
