Special Education Teacher

Job Title: 25/26 - SPED (self-contained Autism) - Decatur, GA

Location: Decatur, GA

Schedule / Job Type: Direct Contract

Key Responsibilities: • Teach K-2nd grade students with moderate intellectual disabilities and Autism in a self-contained classroom setting • Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to meet student ability levels • Provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth • Manage classroom behavior and support students with potty training and behavioral challenges

Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education • Valid state special education certificate • Adaptive Certification highly preferred for the Autism classroom • Minimum three years previous special education teaching experience preferred

Preferred Experience / Skills: • Experience in K-2 and/or inclusive of culturally-relevant project-based learning • Experience working with students with Autism and moderate intellectual disabilities • Strong classroom management and behavioral support skills
