Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize the nursing process to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients during a shift • Ensure safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable care of patients • Provide direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken, and patient responses • Coordinate patient care through collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team • Initiate, utilize, and document appropriate protocols and standards of care • Administer medication and treatments as prescribed by physician or standard protocols and document according to policy • Identify and meet patient and family learning and discharge needs on admission and throughout the episode of care • Assume responsibility for the clinical supervision of LPNs and other non-licensed assistive personnel • Complete patient population/age-specific/procedure and protocol education and competency testing per unit standards

Required Qualifications:

• Must have successfully completed at least one 13-week travel assignment • Minimum two (2) years current experience required in Cardiothoracic surgery • Must be able to scrub • Must be a team player, flexible and accustomed to fast paced environment

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• EMR: EPIC experience preferred but not required; will train on-site • PALS and ACLS preferred

Required Education:

• One of the following is required: • Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License • BLS required • BLS (and ACLS, and PALS if obtained) must be completed through American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross
