Special Education Teacher
Job Title Compliance Specialist (ESE Coordinator) Location Evans, GA Schedule / Job Type Full-time
Key Responsibilities • Reviews and provides feedback on draft and final IEPs and eligibility reports to maintain compliance. • Coordinates annual IEP and triennial reviews of eligibilities to ensure compliance with IDEA 2004. • Completes observations of students in the reevaluation and initial IEP process. • Writes full eligibility reports for students in the initial and reevaluation process. • Monitors FTE counts and assists with FTE documentation required by the special education department. • Ensures that student accommodations and modifications are shared with and understood by all staff who work with the student. • Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance. • Acts as a resource for other staff members. • Ensures testing accommodations are communicated to the test coordinator and assists with alternate assessment process.
Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in special education and at least 3 years of successful teaching in the area of special education with a strong background in compliance. • Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing special education, judicial decisions relative to special education, and students with disabilities. • Extensive knowledge of various interventions in working with students with disabilities in the school setting. • Understanding of statewide assessments and ability to discuss student progress as it relates to assessments. • Ability to analyze progress monitoring data to assist teachers with interventions and monitor student progress in both general education and special education settings.
Preferred Experience / Skills • Understanding of Assistive Technology, Functional Behavioral Assessments, Behavior Intervention Plans, and Transition plans. • Experience with IEP implementation and compliance with IDEA 2004 regulations.
