Job Title: Registered Nurse - Psychiatric

Location: Kansas City, MO

Schedule: Nights

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' mental health status, recognizing signs of psychiatric disorders, substance use, and behavioral problems through thorough patient histories, observations, and diagnostic tools. • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on the needs of patients with mental health and behavioral issues, setting goals, implementing interventions, and evaluating outcomes. • Administer psychiatric medications, monitoring for side effects or adverse reactions, and maintaining knowledge of psychotropic medications. • Provide immediate, short-term support to patients in crisis, utilizing de-escalation techniques and appropriate medication management. • Build trust and rapport with patients through effective communication skills, active listening, and empathy, utilizing therapeutic communication techniques. • Monitor patients for physical and psychological symptoms, including vital signs, mental status changes, and medication effects.

Required Qualifications:

• BLS certification • CPI certification • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification • Crisis Intervention certification

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• Experience working in psychiatric settings • Knowledge of psychotropic medications and their interactions • Experience with electronic medical records (EMRs) • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
