Registered Nurse Medical Surgical

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Fort Wayne, IN

Schedule / Job Type: Nights, 12-hour shifts, 3 weekend shifts in 4 weeks

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and care for diverse patient populations with varying diagnoses, including chronic illnesses and acute conditions • Manage complex medical and surgical procedures, such as colonoscopies, thoracents, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries • Develop and implement care plans, utilize electronic medical records, and coordinate inter-professional communication • Administer medications, therapies, and treatments, including IV therapy, wound care, and management of heparin and insulin drips • Utilize various equipment, including Epic electronic record, pyxis machines, Accucheck blood glucose, and hospira IV pumps

Required Qualifications:

• At least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience as a Registered Nurse • At least 1 year of experience at a facility with 600+ beds • Current IN State or compact RN license (or compact license as of 7/1/20) • Certification in BLS, ACLS, and other required certifications

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• Experience in medical-surgical units, including management of complex patients and procedures • Familiarity with Epic electronic record system • Experience with IV therapy, wound care, and medication management
