Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct pulmonary function tests, assess evaluations, and interpret test results to develop respiratory therapy plans in consultation with physicians.
  • Administer medicated inhalants, operate respiratory equipment such as ventilators, BIPAP machines, and aerosol generators, and support airway management and life support procedures.
  • Perform respiratory treatments including broncho-pulmonary drainage, breathing exercises, and monitor patient responses such as vital signs and arterial blood gases.
  • Provide newborn assessments during deliveries and C-sections, implementing intervention measures like ventilation, CPAP therapy, and suctioning as needed.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members on discharge planning, participating in patient care conferences and documentation of clinical services.
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and perform equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance to ensure safety and proper functioning.
  • Maintain professional development by attending training, workshops, and reviewing current industry publications, while staying informed of relevant legislation and certification requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Current state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Experience with mechanical ventilators, BIPAP, and aerosol therapies.
  • Knowledge of respiratory diseases and clinical assessment skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers and families.
  • Ability to adhere to infection control standards and maintain patient confidentiality.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Prior experience in a hospital setting, including neonatal and labor/delivery units.
  • Good clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
