Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and reassess patient conditions, developing and evaluating nursing care plans and patient goals.
  • Provide bedside nursing care following established standards, protocols, and policies.
  • Educate patients and their families, addressing learning needs, readiness, and barriers to learning.
  • Collaborate on discharge planning, supporting patients and families with resources and support systems.
  • Delegate and supervise nursing interventions performed by team members, ensuring safety and quality.
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, responses, and care activities thoroughly and accurately.
  • Promptly report patient status updates and concerns to the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care.
  • Recognize and address patient safety risks, including potential abuse, and complete mandated reports as required.
  • Administer medications, including intravenous therapies, following physician orders and protocols.
  • Monitor and manage pain levels, reassessing treatment effectiveness and communicating with physicians as needed.
  • Identify and respond to abnormal laboratory and diagnostic results, notifying physicians timely.
  • Safely manage critical care components, including airway management, medication titration, and monitoring cardiac rhythms.
  • Implement and monitor ventilator management, including suctioning, troubleshooting, and weaning, as well as interpreting related clinical data.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (BS in Nursing preferred)
  • Valid RN license in Massachusetts
  • Current BLS certification; ACLS certification within 60 days of hire
  • 3-5 years of emergency department nursing experience preferred
  • Ability to perform physical tasks involving lifting and reaching up to 50 pounds occasionally

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Certification in PALS, TNCC, ENPC, or CEN is advantageous
  • Experience with trauma and critical care nursing environments
