Registered Nurse Medical Surgical

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Fort Wayne, IN

Schedule / Job Type: Full-time, 12-hour shifts, days, with rotating weekends; floating to medical units as needed

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care on general medical and surgical units for a diverse patient population
• Perform assessments, care planning, and execute interventions for patients with diagnoses such as COPD, Diabetes, CHF, renal disease, GI issues, infections, neurological conditions, and mental health disorders
• Manage procedures including colonoscopies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, bronchoscopies, and minor surgeries
• Utilize medical equipment including IV pumps, wound Vacs, feeding pumps/tubes, chest tubes, and telemetry monitoring
• Document patient care and communicate effectively across interdisciplinary teams using electronic health records

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 1.5 years of hospital nursing experience in a Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary care setting
• At least 1 year of experience at a facility with 600+ beds
• Valid State of Indiana RN license or current compact license
• Certifications: BLS required; ACLS or other relevant certifications preferred
• Proficiency with EHR systems, IV management, and medical equipment

Preferred Experience / Skills:

• Prior experience floating to similar medical/surgical units
• Familiarity with managing complex patients with multiple comorbidities and procedures
• Knowledge of emergency response protocols and medication management
