Job Title: Radiation Therapist
Location: Galesburg, IL
Schedule / Job Type: Full-time, Days (Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM); no weekends; observed holidays include New Year’s, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review patient charts to determine treatment prescriptions, doses, and imaging needs; assist in patient simulation and localization procedures in collaboration with physicians and physicists.
- Prepare and position patients accurately using specialized equipment such as CT/Sim, Varian Halcyon linear accelerator, and treatment devices; ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures.
- Fabricate custom immobilization devices and treatment accessories; perform quality control tests on treatment equipment and maintain accurate treatment records.
- Explain procedures and potential side effects to patients, providing care instructions and addressing patient concerns.
- Monitor patients through CCTV during treatments, observe for physiological or psychological changes, and report findings to appropriate medical staff.
- Maintain supply inventory and ensure all treatment supplies and equipment are prepared and functional for daily operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a radiation therapist.
- Knowledge of radiation therapy procedures, equipment operation, and physics related to radiation treatments.
- Certification as ARRT registered and hold Illinois IEMA licensure.
- Proficiency in operating treatment planning and management systems, including CT/Sim, Varian Halcyon, Aria RO, and electronic health records (Epic).
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, physicians, and healthcare team members.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- Experience with treatment device fabrication.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures for radiation therapy equipment.
- Prior experience in a clinical setting with new department infrastructure.

Training on the new Varian Halcyon system will be provided as part of the department’s setup and ongoing development.
