Registered Nurse IMC/PCU/Stepdown
Job Title: Registered Nurse - IMC/PCU/Stepdown
Location: Dayton, OH
Schedule / Job Type: Nights, Contract (16-20 weeks preferred, 13 weeks accepted)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized nursing care for cardiac patients, including post-CABG and valve replacement cases.
- Manage patients with complex cardiac conditions, including monitoring continuous telemetry and titrating cardiac drips.
- Perform procedures such as IV starts, reading and interpreting cardiac strips, and administering medications within scope.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care in a 36-bed unit.
- Float to various units within the facility as needed, including high-risk respiratory and COVID support units.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of Ohio.
- Minimum of 1.5 years of experience in a level 1 or 2 cardiac ICU or Stepdown (SD/PCU) setting.
- Cardiac experience with CABG and valve replacement patients.
- EPIC electronic medical record system experience.
- Ability to pass an online EKG tele competency assessment prior to start.
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, IV Start, NIH stroke certification, and ability to interpret cardiac strips.
- Must have experience managing patient ratios of approximately 1:4-6.
- Must have recent SD/PCU experience detailed in work history to be considered.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- Travel or agency nursing experience.
- Experience floating within various hospital units, including high-risk respiratory or COVID units.
- Prior experience with high-acuity cardiac patient care.
- Ability to work every other weekend and holiday as required.

Additional Details:
- Location: Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, OH.
- Unit specializes in pre/post-op open heart management, thoracotomy, pneumothorax, and advanced cardiac telemetry.
- RTO requests must be included with initial application; no additional RTO changes after offer.
- Travel nurses will be fitted for N95 masks unless PAPR is needed.
- OT is billed at 48 hours with 48-hour contracts.
- All assignments are subject to cancellation based on census with proper notice.
- Candidates must be prepared to float across multiple hospital campuses and units.
