Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery care to high-risk obstetric patients.
- Monitor fetal heart rate and perform non-stress tests using external and internal fetal monitoring.
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and high-risk deliveries, including use of forceps or vacuum extraction.
- Administer medications and treatments such as Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, antihypertensives, and insulin drips.
- Manage postpartum care, including hemorrhage management, perineal assessments, and maternal recovery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe delivery outcomes and neonatal care.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in the state of Indiana.
- BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate course certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of labor and delivery experience, including travel experience preferred.
- Experience with high-risk deliveries, fetal monitoring, and neonatal resuscitation.
- Ability to float to Methodist Hospital OB unit and provide OB-specific care.
- Willingness to work two or three major holidays per policy.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous experience in facilities with 200-300 births per month.
- Proficiency in managing complications such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, breech, and multiple gestations.
- Skilled in EMR systems, preferably Cerner.
