Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient care on the cardiac stepdown unit, including post-operative open-heart and cardiac drips management.
- Monitor and assess patients recovering from heart cath procedures and other cardiac conditions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
- Float to other units as needed during low census or coverage shortages, with minimal expectations for such instances.
- Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, including the use of Epic EMR and supporting ventilated and complex cardiac patients.
- Provide care on the night shift, typically working every third weekend and covering one holiday, with potential for occasional call duties based on census needs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of previous cardiac stepdown experience.
- Experience with open-heart recovery, ventilator management, and cardiac drips.
- Proficiency with Epic EMR system.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in heart cath recovery and post-op cardiac care.
- Ability to adapt to floating between units efficiently.
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills in a high-acuity environment.
