Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Schedule / Job Type:
Full-time, Night shifts, onsite
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care to obstetric patients, including high-risk pregnancies
- Monitor fetal heart rates using external and internal fetal monitoring equipment
- Assist with various delivery procedures including vaginal births, cesarean sections, forceps, and vacuum extractions
- Manage postpartum care, including hemorrhage control, wound assessment, and mother/baby bonding
- Administer medications such as antihypertensives, insulin, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, and anesthesia agents
- Recognize and respond to fetal and maternal emergencies, ensuring safety and adherence to protocols
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of labor and delivery nursing experience
- Valid Indiana RN license or in-state license in hand
- BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate courses (can be pending before start date)
- Ability to float to other OB-specific units, with experience using external and internal fetal monitoring
- Flexibility to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- Travel experience in high-volume facilities (200-300 births/month)
- Experience with NSTs, reflex checks, edema assessments, clonus, and high-risk deliveries
- Knowledge of fetal heart rate patterns, childbirth complications, and postpartum management
- Proficiency with Cerner charting system
