Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to critically ill pediatric patients within the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
• Administer medications and treatments including blood products, IV therapies, and medications such as anticonvulsants and antihypertensives.
• Monitor and assess neonatal and pediatric patients using specialized skills like NSTs, reflex checks, edema assessment, and use of ECG.
• Maintain and manage IV lines, central lines (CVC/PICC), and perform routine procedures such as starting peripheral IVs and assisting with neonatal cares (circumcision, phototherapy, discharge teaching).
• Document patient status accurately using electronic medical records and communicate effectively with the healthcare team via SBAR.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and contribute to patient safety and quality outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Valid WV or Compact RN license (pending licenses acceptable with active license required to start).
• Minimum of 2 years RN experience, including at least 1 year in a pediatric ICU or similar specialty.
• Current BLS certification.
• Experience working with antepartum, postpartum, neonatal, or pediatric intensive care patients is preferred.
• Knowledge of neonatal and pediatric specialty skills such as newborn assessment, cord care, neonatal abstinence syndrome, and PICC line management.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with EGM use, neonatal and newborn assessments, and management of infants with complex needs.
• Ability to float within scope to meet facility needs and flexibility with block scheduling requests.
• Certifications like ACLS and PALS are preferred but not mandatory.
