Key Responsibilities

  • Circulate during C-sections and assist in labor and delivery procedures.
  • Provide high-quality care to high-risk obstetric patients, newborn stabilization, antepartum, and postpartum care.
  • Monitor and respond to patient needs using advanced equipment such as fetal monitors, epidural pumps, and infant warmers.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including respiratory and anesthesia support, on a 24/7 basis.
  • Document patient care accurately in EPIC system and manage medications via Pyxis.
  • Support a patient population aged 12-50 in a Level 1 trauma facility with approximately 3,500 deliveries annually.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Compact or AR nursing license.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ clinical experience in labor and delivery.
  • BLS certification required; AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring preferred.
  • Ability to start IVs and draw labs on moms and babies.
  • Experience circulating and scrubbing in OR settings.
  • Must live 100 miles or more from the facility.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Prior travel nursing experience in a similar high-volume, trauma-intensive environment.
  • Experience with postpartum and antepartum patient care.
  • Knowledge of Oxytocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and insulin infusions, along with other medication protocols.

Additional Information

  • Shifts are 12 hours, scheduled as 0630-1900 or 1830-0700.
  • Up to every other weekend rotation; holiday and holiday rotation required.
  • No call requirement; rotations include weekends and holidays.
  • Orientation period of 2-3 days to familiarize with unit protocols and procedures.
