Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments within 24 hours of physician referral to evaluate speech, language, cognition, and swallowing functions.
• Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals, utilizing evidence-based interventions, and adjust therapies based on patient progress.
• Provide direct speech and swallowing therapies, including compensatory strategies, cognitive-communication interventions, and group sessions when appropriate.
• Document evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, discharge summaries, billing records, and care plans accurately and in a timely manner.
• Educate residents, families, and nursing staff on communication techniques, safe swallowing practices, and home exercises.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes, support discharge planning, and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Current California SLP license; RPE license accepted if in progress.
• Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA preferred.
• BLS/CPR certification required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in skilled nursing facilities or geriatric/rehabilitation settings.
• Strong assessment and treatment planning skills, with knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid billing, PDPM, and California healthcare regulations.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
