• 13-week contract, Overnight shifts, 36 hours/week, 12-hour nights (18:45 - 07:15)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide immediate post-operative recovery care for open-heart surgery patients, including CABG and valve repairs/replacements, directly from the OR.
• Monitor and manage critical cardiac patients using advanced equipment such as Swan-Ganz catheters, intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella devices, and ventricular assist devices.
• Administer IV medications, including continuous sedation, vasoactive drugs, and vasopressors, ensuring titration and monitoring.
• Perform and assist with specialized procedures such as chest tube management, cardioversion, and pacemaker handling.
• Collaborate with the care team to manage multisystem organ failure, dysrhythmias, and complex cardiovascular conditions.
• Adhere to strict isolation precautions and PPE protocols in a high-acuity cardiac ICU.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in open-heart recovery or CVICU setting.
• Experience in immediate post-operative care for open-heart surgery patients.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Proficiency with advanced cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management of cardiac devices (pacemakers, chest tubes).
• Skilled in invasive line management, blood product administration, and ventilator care.
• Ability to work with specialized equipment such as Impella, intra-aortic balloon pumps, CRRT, and EPIC system.
• Strong understanding of isolation precautions, PPE, and critical care protocols.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• PICC line management experience.
• Experience with emergency response and multi-system support.
• Familiarity with Epic and Pyxis systems.

Additional Details

• Average daily census: 22 patients.
• Call requirement: Yes, including 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, with 30-minute response time.
• Float requirement: Yes, to various critical care and cardiac units.
• Patient diagnoses: Immediate post-open heart surgery, including CABG, valve surgeries, and dissections.
• Special procedures: Continuous cardiac output monitoring, epicardial pacemakers, chest tube management, vasopressor/inotrope titration.
• Orientation: 24 hours with preceptor.
• Scrubs provided.
• Interview availability required within 72 hours.
