Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical/Tele

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized nursing care to a diverse patient population on a 30-bed medical-surgical unit with capacity to expand based on COVID volume.
  • Monitor and manage patients with diagnoses such as pneumonia, COPD, CHF, COVID-19, pulmonary embolism, and complex cases requiring oxygen therapy, IV medications, sedation, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and mechanical ventilation.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team to ensure safe patient outcomes and adherence to care plans.
  • Document patient care using electronic health record systems and operate medical equipment including pumps and ventilators.
  • Assist with patient assessments, administer medications, and monitor vital signs, including cardiac and respiratory status.
  • Assist with patient transfers, discharges, and education to promote recovery and safety.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid registered nurse (RN) license in a compact state or SD.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, heated high-flow oxygen, oxygen titration, moderate sedation, telemetry, and medical-surgical patient care.
  • Proficiency with electronic documentation systems and medical equipment such as Alaris pumps and Acudose.
  • Ability to float to other Med-Surg units and demonstrate flexibility in schedule.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Specialty certifications such as Progressive Care Nursing or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • Prior experience working in a hospital setting, particularly in units with ventilator management.
  • Experience working with pulmonary or critical care patient populations.

All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility and wear navy blue scrubs. This position involves rotating shifts and may include float assignments across various units depending on census and COVID volume. Orientation includes on-site competency validation, online modules, and unit-specific training.
