Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on a 30-bed medical surgical and 8-bed progressive care unit with the ability to adapt to a larger capacity based on COVID volume.
  • Manage patient conditions including pneumonia, COPD, heart failure, COVID-19, and pulmonary embolism, utilizing skills in oxygen therapy, IV medications, moderate sedation monitoring, chest tubes, tracheostomies, and mechanical ventilation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe patient outcomes and support a family-centered care environment.
  • Document care using Epic and operate medical equipment such as Alaris pumps and Acudose medication systems.
  • Support float assignments across medical-surgical units and provide flexible coverage as needed.
  • Actively participate in unit-specific training and orientation to validate competencies related to telemetry and mechanical ventilation.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license (SD or compact state license).
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Experience with BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow oxygen, oxygen titration, telemetry, and moderate sedation.
  • Ability to float across units; previous experience in medical-surgical and pulmonary care preferred.
  • Must note if previously employed by Sanford Health; if so, end date must be at least 6 months prior to submission.
  • Current badge-in/out at the facility and adherence to dress code of navy blue scrubs.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Specialty certifications such as Progressive Care Nursing or Medical-Surgical Nursing.
  • Experience with Epic documentation, Alaris pumps, and Acudose medication systems.
  • Skilled in critical care procedures including mechanical ventilation, chest tubes, and tracheostomies.
  • Strong critical thinking, time management, and patient advocacy skills.
