Key Responsibilities

• Provides respiratory therapy to patients across all age groups, including pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations, in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols.
• Administers medical gases, aerosolized medications, and manages advanced mechanical ventilation, including high-frequency and inverse I:E ratio modes.
• Responds to emergent situations such as Rapid Response calls and Blue Alerts, serving as the primary airway manager and initiating life-support interventions.
• Assesses patient response to therapy, adjusting treatment plans accordingly, and documents interventions in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participates in interdisciplinary rounds in ICU and intermediate care units to coordinate patient care.
• Monitors and maintains respiratory equipment and supplies, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Required Qualifications

• Successful graduation from an accredited respiratory therapy program.
• Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Active Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner license or eligibility to obtain.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Basic electronic medical records documentation skills.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience managing mechanical ventilation, including specialized and advanced modes.
• Familiarity with specialty medical gases such as Nitrogen, Heliox, and Nitric Oxide.
• Ability to respond effectively in high-pressure situations and perform critical thinking during emergent events.
