Schedule / Job Type
- Full-time, day shifts, 12-hour shifts (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM), 13-26 week assignments, with potential for 36 hours/week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide care for cardiac and stroke patients in a busy, fast-paced cardiac stepdown unit
- Manage pre/post procedure cardiac patients, including pacemaker implants, ICDs, and cardiac catheterizations
- Titrate and monitor cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone
- Administer oxygen therapy and respiratory support, including high-flow O2, Bipap (chronic use only), and non-rebreather masks
- Perform assessments, monitor telemetry and pulse oximetry, and manage patients with unstable angina, CHF, arrhythmias, and new CVAs or TIAs
- Support unit operations including admissions, discharges, and patient turnover of 78-90 patients weekly
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of recent cardiac telemetry and stepdown experience in a high-acuity setting
- Valid ACLS, BCLS, and NIH certifications
- Skills in IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and post-procedure patient care
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with patient ratios of 1:5-6 (must be comfortable with 6 patients)
- Ability to pass EKG testing prior to start
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Dopamine
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred but first-time travelers are accepted
- Familiarity with COVID-positive patient management, including use of opti-flow and Bipap devices

Additional Details
- No block scheduling or holiday RTO allowed
- RTO requests limited to 7 days maximum
- Unit operates with self-scheduling oversight
- Orientation: 36 hours of hospital orientation required on day one
- Scrubs: Navy blue, white, or a mix of both (uniforms and jackets)
- Must be available for orientation every day of week one
- COVID-positive patients are managed within designated COVID units using appropriate PPE and respiratory support devices
