Key Responsibilities
- Assess and interpret evaluations and test results to develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
- Help patients regain or develop physical and mental functioning through programs targeting daily living, vocational, social, and recreational skills.
- Issue adaptive equipment and customized splints as needed to promote independence.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress, making adjustments to therapy plans accordingly.
- Contribute to discharge planning by consulting with healthcare team members and participating in patient care conferences.
- Document patient care efficiently and accurately using electronic medical records, ensuring compliance with standards.
- Stay current with professional knowledge through ongoing education, workshops, and industry publications.
- Provide in-service training to hospital staff and develop departmental education initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to applicable legal, state, and federal requirements, advising management on necessary actions.
- Participate in professional growth activities and strive to maintain best practice standards.
- Advocate for the occupational therapy profession and its role in patient recovery and independence.
- For school-based roles: Collaborate with educational teams to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- For home health roles: Provide in-home occupational therapy services to homebound patients in coordination with interdisciplinary teams.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Active Colorado Occupational Therapy License (DORA) or valid compact license.
- Current BLS certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
- Ability to pass background checks, drug screens, and health screenings.
- Minimum age of 16 (or 21 for driving positions with valid driver’s license).
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Previous experience in occupational therapy.
- Experience working with pediatric or adult populations in clinical, school, or home health settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
