Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to oncology patients across all phases of treatment, including work-up, therapy administration, and post-treatment recovery.
• Administer inpatient chemotherapy regimens and manage oncologic emergencies such as sepsis and tumor lysis syndrome.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry, manage wounds, and perform procedures such as chest tube and port care.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans, symptom management, and psychosocial support.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team in a teaching hospital environment, including charge nurse responsibilities and potential float to intermediate units.
• Adhere to safety protocols, including radiation safety precautions and isolation procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of oncology nursing experience.
• Valid RN license pending acceptance is acceptable.
• BLS certification.
• Experience with IV therapy, infusions, central line care, and chemotherapy administration.
• Ability to manage oncologic emergencies and perform advanced wound and tube care.
• Familiarity with telemetry interpretation and patient assessment skills.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Previous charge nurse and teaching hospital experience.
• Specialized skills in airway management, advanced symptom control, and biotherapy side effect management.
• Experience caring for patients with various types of cancer including brain, breast, lung, prostate, blood dyscrasias, and gynecologic cancers.
• Knowledge of radiation safety and post-chemotherapy fluid handling.
