Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct patient care in a busy cardiac and stroke unit, including pre/post procedures and stable post-interventional patients.
  • Monitor and manage cardiac patients with various diagnoses such as CHF, arrhythmias, unstable angina, and post-CVA/TIA.
  • Titrate cardiac drips including Cardizem, Dopamine, and Amiodarone as needed.
  • Conduct IV starts and telemetry monitoring, ensuring accurate medication administration and patient assessment.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and patient turnover on a high-volume unit.
  • Support the team with the use of specialized equipment such as BIPAP, high-flow O2, and pulse oximetry.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years recent cardiac telemetry nursing experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid ACLS, BCLS, and NIH certifications.
  • Ability to manage complex cardiac care, including titration of drips and post-procedure patients.
  • Experience with telemetry, IV starts, and cardiac patient management.
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start.

Preferred Experience / Skills:

  • Prior experience with COVID-positive patient care using opti-flow and BIPAP.
  • Comfortable handling high patient acuity with ratios up to 1:6.
  • Willingness to accept first-time traveler assignments and adapt to unit protocols.

  • 36-hour night shifts (18:45 - 07:15).
  • On-call required; weekend rotations included.
  • Orientation: 36 hours with availability required during the first week.
  • Uniform: Navy blue or white scrubs; jackets to match.
  • High patient turnover with an average of 78–90 patients weekly.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-acuity unit with a team lead available for support.
