Special Education Teacher

Primary Purpose: To deliver a high quality educational program that engages students in rigorous and relevant learning opportunities; and to provide differentiated instruction designed to support and challenge students as they maximize their achievement and reach their full potential.

Position Details:

  • Location: Auburn, MA
  • Salary Range: $53,800-105,500/yearly
  • Hours: May vary based on location
  • Schedule: May vary based on location

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Valid MA Dept of Elementary & Secondary Education certification for High School Special Education.
  • Ability to perform essential functions, including differentiated instruction, data analysis, and fostering an inclusive classroom.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and the Common Core Standards.
  • Ability to analyze student performance data and use it to inform instruction.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and ability to work effectively with diverse students and colleagues.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities, including those with varying learning needs.
  • Familiarity with current education theories and best practices in special education.
  • Proficiency with educational software and data management tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver a high-quality, engaging educational program tailored to students with special needs, incorporating rigorous and relevant learning opportunities.
  • Design and implement differentiated instruction to support and challenge students, maximizing their achievement and potential.
  • Develop and administer meaningful assessments, analyze student data, and use insights to refine instructional practices.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment that promotes high expectations and fosters student growth.
  • Collaborate effectively with families, caregivers, community members, and colleagues to support student learning and development.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, school improvement initiatives, and contribute to a positive, collaborative school culture.

Work Environment:

  • May involve working with students in various settings (classroom, therapy rooms, or outdoor spaces).
  • Frequent interaction with parents, staff, and administrators.
