Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care to patients within the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) setting, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.
- Scrub for surgical procedures and serve as a circulating team member, utilizing the nursing process to ensure quality patient outcomes.
- Lead or assist in the management of patient care activities, functioning as a clinical resource for department staff.
- Assess patient needs, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate responses to medical and nursing interventions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient surgical procedures and optimal patient care.
- Support departmental operational and clinical problem-solving as needed, maintaining compliance with safety and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse license.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience.
- Ability to understand and perform intra-operative nursing duties, including scrubbing and circulating.
- Knowledge of medical equipment and surgical procedures specific to CVOR.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for patient and team interactions.
- Physical ability to lift up to 45 lbs, stand for prolonged periods, and perform forceful pushing/pulling activities.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working with McKesson Radiology PACS and Cardiology CPACS systems.
- Ability to float between various surgical teams including pediatric, orthopedic, neuro, and multispecialty surgeries.
- Experience with hazardous waste handling and completion of related safety training.
