Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to IMC, PCU, and stepdown unit patients with acuity levels approaching ICU standards.
  • Monitor cardiac rhythms and manage cardiac drips; proficient in cardiac monitoring.
  • Care for patients with chest tubes, fresh trachs, feeding tubes, and perform epidural management.
  • Manage post-operative patients, including those with total laryngectomy, and oversee IV insulin protocols and titration.
  • Float to various care levels, including Med-Surg, PCU, and ICU, as needed, with provided resources and training.
  • Potentially assist with unit charge nurse duties based on operational needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience in a high-acuity setting.
  • Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and managing cardiac drips.
  • Experience with chest tube care, trachs, feeding tubes, epidurals, and IV insulin protocols.
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications.
  • Ability to float to different units as required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience managing post-op ENT, thoracic, urology, or general surgical patients.
  • Familiarity with external BiPAP/CPAP and Doppler flap checks.
  • Previous experience in a surgical PCU or stepdown environment.
